Video footage of Damon Albarn performing a new track set for inclusion on his debut solo album has emerged online and can be seen below.
‘Lonely, Press Play‘ was just one of a number of solo tunes performed by Albarn during his recent acoustic stint at the Sundance Film Festival. It features on the ‘Everyday Robots‘ LP which is due for release at the end of April.
Speaking to Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music earlier this week, Albarn revealed he and producer Richard Russell contemplated the idea of starting a new band afresh when they came to record a fresh batch of material, before Albarn instead decided to plunge head-first into a solo career.
“We first sort of played around with the idea of starting another band, but I think we both realised that’s an exhausting process, starting again,” he said. “I mean, it’s fun, but you know, coming up with a name and all of that stuff.”
Referring to a solo career, Albarn continued: “At that point it occurred to me that that might be something that I should probably do, ‘cos I haven’t done it before.”
