Bruce Springsteen heading for number one on UK Album Chart

Bruce Springsteen looks well on his way to topping the UK Album Chart – apparently outselling the rest of the Top 5 put together.

Springsteen’s latest release ‘High Hopes‘ – a collection of original material, reworked tracks and covers – immediately leads Ellie Goulding‘s lingering ‘Halcyon‘, while Beyonce‘s more recent self-titled release, Bastille and John Newman make up the rest of the Top 5. The official UK Album Chart will be confirmed by 7pm on Sunday, 19th January.

‘High Hopes’ features a significant contribution from Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello, who has had a growing impact on Springsteen’s music since the pair first began working together in 2008.

“He became a filter that I ran my music through,” Springsteen recently told Rolling Stone of Morello. “He would send the songs back to me with a very current slant on them. He jolted those songs into the now. He’s one of the few guitarists that creates a world by himself. It’s like the Edge or Pete Townshend or Johnny Marr. The E Street Band is a big house, but when Tom is onstage he builds another room.”
