Surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr made a rare live appearance together at the Grammy Awards last night (January 26th) as Daft Punk took home two of the evening’s flagship prizes.

Just a a short time before the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ world-changing first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, Sir Paul and Ringo in fact only performed the former’s recent solo track ‘Queenie Eye‘ – perhaps saving the best stuff for the Grammys’ TV special, which is due to air next month.

There was another instantly memorable live performance at the end of the evening as Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Josh Homme and Lindsey Buckingham all joined forces for renditions of Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Copy of A‘ and Queens Of The Stone Age’s ‘My God Is the Sun‘ .

As for the winners, Daft Punk claimed the Record Of The Year gong to the surprise of nobody thanks to their monster hit ‘Get Lucky‘, while the French duo also came out on top in the Album Of The Year section as ‘Random Access Memories‘ crossed the line ahead of the likes of ‘Red‘ by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City‘.
