Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess plays the Islington Assembly Hall next week as he prepares to wave goodbye to a year which has seen the release of a remix edition of his 2012 solo album ‘Oh No I Love You‘ and the publication of his autobiography Telling Stories.

December 16th will see Burgess being joined by Mark Collins, David Klaxton on guitar, Toby Kidd on bass and Finn Kidd on drums for what is being billed as a night of ‘music from Tim’s solo albums, the odd Charlatans classic and a little sprinkling of Christmas magic’. Support is provided by Hatcham Social and Throwing Up.

‘Oh No I Love You’ was released just over a year ago, and features various guest contributions from musicians such as members of Lambchop and My Morning Jacket.

“The root of this album goes right back to a Kurt Wagner show in Manchester,” Burgess said of the record, which saw him working with Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner.

“I carried Kurt’s guitar to the car for him. I took the chance to ask him if he would ever consider writing a song with me. He said, ‘Sure Tim, you write the music and I’ll write the words’. That one song turned into an album and almost ten years after we first talked about it, the album is ready.”
