Paz Lenchatin has agreed to become the latest bass player with the Pixies – the band’s third of the year.

Pixies started 2013 with their long-term bassist Kim Deal still on board, but after her departure was confirmed around the same time of the release of their new EP ‘EP 1‘, her initial replacement Kim Shattuck was given her marching orders earlier this month.

“Disappointed to learn that my time w/Pixies ended today,” she reflected on Twitter. “Amazing experience. Focusing attn on Muffs & new album. All the best to everyone.”

And now Lenchatin, a familiar face on the alternative US scene, has joined up for the Pixies’ long run of North American headline dates, and is also due to be on board for their various worldwide festival commitments.

“We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates,” drummer Dave Lovering has remarked. “Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we’re having a great time doing it.”
