Long lost Johnny Cash album to be released next year

johnnycashsqA never-before-released Johnny Cash album, originally recorded and rejected during the legend’s final, fallow years with Columbia has been unearthed and will be out next March, reports the Associated Press.

Although two albums worth of material recorded with Rick Rubin – ‘American VI: Ain’t No Grave‘ and ‘American V: A Hundred Highways‘ – have been posthumously released since his death in 2003, this will be the first studio LP to have emerged from Cash’s extensive archives, of which his son John Carter Cash has said:

“They never threw anything away. They kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it from the original audio tapes from `The Johnny Cash Show’ to random things like a camel saddle, a gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia.”

According to reports, ‘Out Among The Stars’ was recorded between 1981-1984 with Wayne Jennings and is now finally set for release on March 25th 2014.
