The Arctic Monkeys will be hoping to soak up more praise for their summer festival gigs when the European Festival Awards take place on January 15th next year.

The Sheffield band have been nominated for Headliner Of The Year after picking up the same prize at the UK Festival Awards earlier this month, although Britain is not represented in the Best Major Festival category, with the likes of Open’er, Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter among those up for that prize.

“This has been a record-breaking year for the European Festival Awards and the hardest-fought competition we’ve had,” James Drury, MD of Festival Awards Ltd, states. “There have been so many wonderful festivals involved from across Europe and it’s testament to the passion of the festival-goers that there has been such a level of engagement. I can’t wait to reveal the winners at the awards ceremony on 15th January.”
