The Flaming Lips will release their vision of The Stone Roses‘ classic debut album as part of this year’s Black Friday initiative, frontman Wayne Coyne has confirmed.

Coyne stoked the flames of a possible Stone Roses covers album earlier this year with a series of hints on Twitter, and now the details have been rubber-stamped; Coyne has told Rolling Stone a number of special guests have joined the band for the LP, while the single ‘Fools Gold‘, which doesn’t form a part of the original ‘Stone Roses‘ tracklist, has also been covered.

“It doesn’t really have a drum track, they’re really good guitar players with a lot of effects and some cool things that we added in,” Coyne has said of ‘Fools Gold’. “We weren’t really sure if that was part of the record or not but we added it in because their version was so great.”

Peaking Lights, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, New Fumes and Def Rain have contributed, while Poliça offers vocals on ‘She Bangs The Drums‘, Foxygen‘s Jonathan Rado does the same on ‘This Is the One‘ and Spaceface are the act to lead ‘Fools Gold’.
