UK Festival Awards reveals 2013 nominees

The nominees for this year’s UK Festival Awards have been revealed, and it’s the inaugural British Summer Time event in Hyde Park which appears to have had the biggest impact on music fans during the summer of 2013.

British Summer Time, which brought The Rolling Stones back to Hyde Park for the first time since 1969, is nominated for Best Major Festival, Best New Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival.

Elsewhere, the aforementioned gig from the Stones is up for Headline Performance Of The Year, where it will compete with other major bookings such as Arctic Monkeys at Glastonbury and Eminem at Reading/Leeds.

“We’ve seen one of the most vibrant seasons in 2013, line-ups have featured a huge number of must-see and incredible new acts,” James Drury of the UK Festival Awards comments. “Alongside that talent legends like Rolling Stones and mega-stars like Eminem returned to the stage. Again we’ve beaten the record of votes cast with 575,000 received this year and we can’t wait to reveal the favourites of the festival-going public.”

The main categories are all listed below, while the winners of other sections – such as Agency Of The Year, Best Line-Up and Outstanding Achievement – will be decided by a selected panel.
