Tracks recorded with Jack White to feature on Beck’s new album

beckwideWhile in conversation with Rolling Stone, Beck has revealed more on his forthcoming ‘Morning Phase‘ album, which is described as a ‘companion piece of sorts’ to his 2002 LP ‘Sea Change‘.

Beck has told Rolling Stone tracks recorded as far back as 2005 in Nashville – which were revisited two years ago in the same city with Jack White – are set for inclusion on the record, with contributions from the vast majority of musicians who joined him on ‘Sea Change’ also featuring – those include Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker, Smokey Hormel, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner.

“It’s not heavy-handed, but it’s in there,” Beck has said of the LP’s running theme, which deals with the mindset of early morning. “There’s this feeling of tumult and uncertainty, getting through that long, dark night of the soul – whatever you want to call it. These songs were about coming out of that – how things do get better.”

‘Morning Phase‘ is set for release via Capitol Records in February 2014.
