Banks, Ella Eyre, Elya Fox, George Ezra, Joel Compass, Kwabs, Royal Blood, Sam Smith, The Vamps and unsigned competition winner Marie Naffah were all named on the 2014 MTV Brand New shortlist at a ceremony in London last night (November 27th).
“Thank you MTV for including me in you Brand New for 2014,” Sam Smith has said. “I grew up with MTV, so it is really exciting to be a part of this campaign.”
A public vote now opens on December 16th, the winner will be later announced in February next year. Past nominees for the prize include Tom Odell, Haim and Lady Gaga.
“It’s so great to be a part of MTV’s Brand New list,” Elyar Fox declared. “I’ve been a big fan of MTV since as long as I remember! All my favourite artists have been played on MTV, and I can’t believe that I will be too.”
“It is great to be included in MTV’s Brand New for 2014,” Royal Blood added. “It fills us with endless joy to know that our music will be experienced by many on such a well regarded platform. We salute you.”
