Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide – The Best Of October feat. Best Friends, Suburban Dirts and more


As another month draws to a close, this week’s New Tunes Guide brings together the best of the cutting edge tracks which Live4ever has presented to you during October. Reacquaint yourself with our carefully selected highlights, and catch up with any hidden gems you might have missed!

Best Friends unveiled the video for ‘Nosebleeds’ during October, which we described as a toe-tappingly catchy number and which forms a part of the ‘Happy Anniversary’ single that is out now through Art Is Hard Records. Hertfordshire based six-piece Suburban Dirts, meanwhile, impressed us with the Bob Dylan inspired track ‘Lost In Transcription’ – a highlight on October 12th. The song is taken from their second album, released on November 18th.

Forming in late January 2013, Life have played a handful of shows around East London and in their hometown of Hull. The band consists of brothers Mez and Mick and best buds Loz and Rich. ‘I Wanna Forget’, the band’s debut single, will be out on October 21st via Birthday Records.”

Crystal Antlers have revealed news of an extensive North American fall tour, along with a brand new video for ‘Rattlesnake’ directed by CR Stecyk III, the first single off their forthcoming album ‘Nothing Is Real’, which is out on October 15th on Innovative Leisure.”

“Suburban Dirts are a Herts based 6 piece folk/alt. country band taking their lead from the likes of Ryan Adams, The Band, Justin Townes Earle, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. The band’s second album – ‘a tiny little island in the big bad sea’ – is due to hit the shops and download stores on 18th November.”

Reporters are a rock n roll duo of teenagers Dan Stock (lead vocalist/guitarist) and Josh Ringsell (drums/backing vocals). ‘Meet Me In The Morning’ is taken from the ‘Trouble Last Morning’ EP, out 28th October on Phret Records. The EP was recorded in analogue form in one day at Soup Studios, London.”

“After early material, Beastmilk are now streaming the first material from their debut album ‘Climax’. Premiered by Pitchfork, ‘Love In A Cold World’ is available to stream via their label Svart Records now.”

Parquet Courts’ new EP ‘Tally All The Things That You Broke’ was out on October 14th on What’s Your Rupture?. The video was directed by Food Party and Late Night Munchies creator/weirdo Thu Tran. The band will be playing their biggest UK dates at the end of the month.”

“Sheffield’s Best Friends have released a new video for ‘Nosebleeds’. ‘Nosebleeds’ is available now as part of the ‘Happy Anniversary’ single on Art Is Hard Records. Best Friends are Lewis Sharman, Tom Roper, Jack Collister and Ed Crisp.”

“After selling out two nights at the Shacklewell Arms on their last trip over, Californian quintet The Growlers are coming back to the UK next week for an extensive tour, including a night at the Scala in London on 30th October. Ahead of their visit, the band have shared new song ‘Dogheart II’, taken from their upcoming ‘Not. Psych! EP’.”

“Toronto’s Odonis Odonis are set to release their latest single ‘Are We Friends?’. Odonis Odonis are Dean Tzenos, Denholm Whale and Jarod Gibson.”

The Deep Red Sky released their latest single ‘Kids’ – a cover of the MGMT favourite – on October 7th. Last month they played Hootananny Inverness (20), Bar Bloc Glasgow (23), The Electric Circus Edinburgh (24), Lomax Liverpool (25), Retro Bar Manchester (27).
