Johnny Marr, Pharrell Williams and Incubus guitarist Mike Einzige have been united by their mutual love of Spider-Man and will work with Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The film’s director Marc Webb tweeted a picture of the rather unlikely supergroup in the studio together – not pictured was the Eurythmics Dave Stewart, who is also thought to be in on the project ahead of the movie’s release in May 2014.

It was Zimmerman who recently to Billboard that the musicians had all got together because ‘they love Spider-Man’. “That was the thing that united all of us – the great love for Spider-Man,” he said. “With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’. Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

The latest installment of the Spider-Man franchise again stars Andrew Garfield, with Jamie Foxx on board as the villain ‘Electro’.
