Avenged Sevenfold have become one of the first bands to confirm a headline festival spot for next year, and will top the bill at Download in June 2014.

They are set to headline on Friday, June 13th next year at Donington Park after the festival was led this summer by Slipknot, Rammstein and Iron Maiden.

The booking contrasts slightly with the more ambitious headliners organiser Andy Copping has said he hopes to secure in the future – Led Zeppelin and the original Guns N Roses line-up top that particular list.

“I’d love to get them, but who knows when?” he told NME of the possibility of Van Halen performing. “Maybe one year we can get them to come over and it’ll happen, I live in hope.”

“You can’t rule any bands at that level out,” he continued. “Led Zeppelin, the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses, I’d love to get them, hopefully it’ll happen one day.”
