David Bowie and the Arctic Monkeys have been nominated for the South Bank Awards’ Pop Music prize.

The Next Day‘ and ‘AM‘ are both up for one of the culture shows’ prestigious annual awards, and will compete with Disclosure‘s ‘Settle‘ at the Dorchester Hotel in London on January 27th when luminaries from the worlds of art, classical music, theatre, opera and more are to be honoured.

“Once again, the list of nominees for the South Bank Sky Arts Awards shows that the UK arts landscape is as vibrant as ever,” host Melvyn Bragg has said. “It’s vital to honour the excellence of artists, performers, musicians and authors especially at this time, and were very glad that we can do this.”

Also nominated from the pop world is King Krule, who along with the likes of Anna Clyne (classical), Nick Helm (comedy), Jack O’Connell (film), Evie Wyld (literature) and Alessandro Talevi (opera) is up for the Times Breakthrough Award.
