The White Stripes‘ 2003 album ‘Elephant‘ shook the world more than any other of the last twenty years, according to readers of Mojo magazine.

The publication asked its readers to vote for the ’20 Albums That Shook The Last 20 Years’ to marks its own 20th anniversary, and found ‘Elephant’ to be the most popular choice, ahead of Arcade Fire‘s ‘Funeral‘ and Bob Dylan‘s ‘Time Out Of Mind‘.

“A decade on from its release, ‘Elephant’ has lost none of its charm or power,” Mojo’s editor-in-chief Phil Alexander reflects. “Building on the band’s three previous LPs, it delivered accessible and complex material in equal measure. The album helped spawn a raft of two-piece imitators, yet continues to stand alone.”

The votes were also collected into a year-by-year list, highlights of which include The Strokes‘ ‘Is This It‘ being named the best of 2001, Tame Impala and ‘Lonerism‘ coming out on top for last year, and Oasis‘ second LP ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?‘ triumphing for 1995.

“The results of these two lists are fascinating on both counts and present a genuine view of the best in music over the last 20 years,” Alexander added.
