Vampire Weekend, Biffy Clyro and Foals took home the main prizes at the 2013 Q Awards ceremony, which was held in London today (October 21st).

Vampire Weekend beat off competition from David Bowie – who lost out in all six categories which he was nominated in – Arctic Monkeys, Foals and Biffy Clyro to be named Best Act In The World Today, though the latter two bands did go home with gongs for Best Live Act and Best Album respectively. Elsewhere, Jake Bugg won Best New Act, Ellie Goulding came out on top in Best Solo and Robbie Williams, apparently, is the Q Idol.

“We keep being told that these are tough times for the industry, but the evidence here suggests the opposite,” said Q’s senior editor Matt Mason. “We’re particularly delighted to salute evergreen artists such as Robbie, the Pet Shop Boys and Suede, who’ve all made excellent new music over the last 12 months. They’re brilliant reminders of the enduring power of the great British pop act.”
