The Strokes ‘looking at 2014 for a return to the scene’

strokessq12014 could see a new album from The Strokes, as a passage in a newsletter sent out to fans details their desire to ‘return to the scene’ shortly.

In an email which largely looks at guitarist Albert Hammond Jr‘s solo EP ‘AHJ‘, out on bandmate Julian Casablancas‘ Cult Records label, a brief section also outlines The Strokes’ plans for next year, and reads:

“Hey folks, while The Strokes are toiling and writing, looking at 2014 for a return to the scene, Albert Hammond Jr. has been busy on his solo EP.”

The New York group released their fifth album ‘Comedown Machine‘ in March, and in doing so came through on their promise to swiftly work on a successor to the much troubled 2011 effort ‘Angles‘, whose sessions had been dogged by inter-band strife.

Hammond Jr’s EP, meanwhile, continues a sporadic solo career which began in 2006 with ‘Yours to Keep‘, and continued two years later with ‘¿Cómo Te Llama?‘.
