With the imminent release of his ‘New‘ studio album, and HMV’s return to its original Oxford Street home in mind, Sir Paul McCartney will undertake a rare signing session in London later this week.

From 3pm on Friday, October 18th Sir Paul is going to be at HMV’s new flagship store on Oxford Street to sign copies of his latest studio effort. Most of the tickets are being given away on his official website, but some will also be available at the shop on a first come, first serve basis.

“We’re truly honoured to welcome Paul McCartney back to HMV 363 Oxford Street,” HMV chairman Paul McGowan says. “It sends a clear signal across the world that HMV is truly back in its rightful place as the home of entertainment.”

It was at the 363 Oxford Street HMV premises where McCartney and his fellow Beatles bandmates cut the demo tape which would eventually fall into the lap of EMI executives, leading to their label breakthrough and introduction to George Martin.

To make the return to the site they first called home from 1921 to 2000, HMV are giving away free vinyl records all this week, starting today (October 14th) with 7″ promos of The Beatles’ ‘Live On Air Volume 2‘.
