Sir Paul McCartney treated New York City’s Times Square to a surprise mini-concert yesterday (October 10th).

Macca is on the campaign trail in readiness for the release of his new album ‘New‘, and urged fans to get to Times Square for the show just an hour before it got underway at 1pm.

“Wow! Really excited to be playing New York Times Square at 1 pm this afternoon,” he wrote on Twitter. “Come on down to Times Square. It’s all going to be happening there!”

‘New’ has been recorded with various guest musicians and producers, and was supported with the first single, also called ‘New‘, at the end of August.

“It is, however, evident that McCartney is still capable of creating infectious melodies with infuriating ease despite treading a well worn path of his own making,” Live4ever’s reviews reads. “His voice is in great shape and Ronson’s production gives the song warmth with a wry wink to nostalgia rather than exaggerating it; The Beach Boys coda in particular is a nice touch.”
