Mogwai have announced their eighth studio album will be out on January 20th 2014.
‘Rave Tapes‘ is the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will‘, and is to be released in the UK through the band’s own Rock Action label, with Sub Pop handling things for North America. Today’s news was marked with the first play of lead track ‘Remurdered‘ on BBC 6Music, which can now be heard through Soundcloud (below).
‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’ proved to be another critical success story for the group, and was nominated for the 2012 Scottish Album Of The Year prize along side the likes of King Creosote & Jon Hopkins and Live4ever favourites Twin Atlantic. In the end, the record lost out to Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat and their album ‘Everything’s Getting Older’.
