Haim are locked in a close battle with Justin Timberlake for next week’s UK number one album.

According to midweek figures, the sibling trio are trailing Timberlake by just 700 copies after the pair released their respective new LPs ‘Days Are Gone‘ and ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2‘ on Monday.

Elsewhere, Arctic Monkeys are still going strong with their recent ‘AM‘ record and should remain in the top five, while last week’s chart topper – Kings Of Leon‘s ‘Mechanical Bull‘ – is due to drop a couple of places. Alter Bridge are enjoying a positive week, and look set to land a high entry with ‘Fortress.’

“‘Days Are Gone’ has lots to admire, but not much of it in a trashing hotel rooms and vomiting in your roadies’ knapsack kind of way,” Live4ever’s review of Haim’s album reads. “There are flashes of that combustible, angrier live streak, particularly on the more tribal overtones of ‘Let Me Go‘; Danielle, Este and Alana‘s poly-harmonics and the squawking of bluesier guitars all coming close to unleashing the beast.”
