Damon Albarn gave Gorillaz fans a treat over the weekend by airing the previously unreleased instrumental ‘Whirlwind‘ during his guest appearance on BBC Radio 2.
Unsurprisingly, the track has quickly founds its way onto the Internet and can be heard below.
Whilst standing in for regular Saturday afternoon host Dermot O’Leary, Albarn brought out the special gift which was apparently recorded with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra during sessions which resulted in the 2010 album ‘Plastic Beach‘.
As ever, Damon Albarn has remained busy during the course of this year, and has been undertaking studio visits which could result in both solo and Blur LPs next year.
“Making a solo record can be such a disaster, so I thought if we’re going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it – take that responsibility away from myself,” Albarn told Rolling Stone, after recruiting XL boss Richard Russell on his latest project.
