Badly Drawn Boy has another onstage argument with audience

It seems Badly Drawn Boy has had another run in with a member of his audience – this time during a benefit gig arranged to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the death of Elliott Smith which raised £2,000 for the mental health charity Mind.

According to reports, Badly Drawn Boy began his headline set at the Elliott Smith Tribute Night –  held at the Brixton Windmill on October 21st – by telling the crowd he would not be performing any Elliott Smith tracks, before embarking on a 10-minute speech which referenced a drink and drug binge the previous night.

When a member of the crowd then observed that ‘Elliott wouldn’t have wanted this’, BDB is alleged to have called the heckler a ‘cunt’ and asked them to leave the show.

Badly Drawn Boy, real name Damon Gough, is no stranger to an onstage altercation, and endured a disastrous 2010 gig in Los Angeles when insults were exchanged between crowd and performer for a good hour, while the highlight of his appearance at the Northampton Music Festival last year was said to have arrived courtesy of a spot of harmonica tossing mid-show.
