The 45th anniversary of the Velvet Underground‘s ‘White Light/White Heat‘ is to be marked with a super deluxe, 3CD reissue which will be out in time for the Christmas market.
Out on December 2nd, the re-release features rare outtakes, previously unreleased studio tracks and live recordings, and includes both the original stereo and mono versions in an entirely remastered form.
‘White Light/White Heat’ succeeded the Velvet Underground’s seminal debut LP in 1968 after frantic New York City recording sessions which delivered the completed album in a matter of days. Just like its predecessor, it was met with blank expressions from critics, and limped in at #199 on the Billboard 200.
Today however, it is considered one of the most influential bodies of work on just about every rock scene that has followed, from avant-garde and underground to garage and punk.
