MGMT‘s imminent self-titled album is now available to preview in full before its September 16th release – if you fancy signing up to the Rdio service below.

The duo’s new LP is also being marked on Rdio with a feature entitled The Optimizer, which offers ‘an immersive audio and visual experience to accompany the new album for its full 44 minute run time’ and has been put together by MGMT along with a team of visual artists.

MGMT’s intriguing third album has already become a study in free-form experimentalism of a kind which the band themselves have admitted they are not entirely sure will produce winning results; speaking to Rolling Stone recently, Andrew VanWyngarden bluntly declared: “I don’t even know if it’s music we would want to listen to. It’s just what’s coming out of us. We didn’t make a single compromise.”

“Weird things would happen to me up there,” he continued when referencing recording sessions in Buffalo, New York at producer Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studios. “I had total mental breakdowns sometimes.”
