Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has agreed to take up residence in one of the rotating chairs vacated by former judges Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue when The Voice makes a thoroughly unwelcome return next year.

Jessie J and O’Donoghue have led an exodus which also includes presenters Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates after the latest series ended with a collective shrug of the nation’s shoulders earlier this year. Wilson will be accompanied by fellow newcomer Kylie Minogue.

“Who doesn’t want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue?” Wilson has said in a statement.

“I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars. I’m just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!”

Described as ‘one of the UK music scene’s great frontmen’ by the BBC’s Mark Linsey, Wilson joins the TV show after his band’s drummer and chief songwriter Nick Hodgson announced his departure at the end of 2012.
