Queens Of The Stone Age mainman Josh Homme has criticised Jay Z after appearing at the superstar rapper’s Made In America Festival at the start of this month.

Speaking to CBC Radio 2’s Strombo Show, Homme looked back with little affection at the Philadelphia event after encountering what he considered to be an overly zealous security presence and an emphasis on corporate product placement.

“That guy’s a kook,” he said. “He has his security frisking the bands on the way in.”

“I just told him, ‘If you open up my bag, then we’re not playing, so I guess it’s up to you now to decide whether I’m playing or not’,” he continued when remembering an encounter with security.

Homme was also not happy with being asked to pose backstage with a bottle of Jay Z’s own Ace Of Spades champagne, adding: “I was like, ‘That’s not a gift – that’s a marketing tool’. I destroyed it, because I thought it was rude overall. You shouldn’t frisk my guys, you should fuck off.”
