David Bowie denies any live plans after London gig rumour

A spokesperson for David Bowie has denied the veteran songwriter is set for a big money return to the live stage in London amidst rumours of a lucrative offer from leading promoters Live Nation.

The Daily Mirror newspaper claimed yesterday (September 2nd) that Live Nation had made a bid to secure a show for Bowie at London’s Olympic Park complex next year, while rivals AEG were also reported to be preparing a counter offer which would see Bowie perform in Hyde Park.

However, with no apparent desire for any live engagements since Bowie released his comeback album ‘The Next Day‘ earlier this year, a spokesperson has now reiterated that stance to NME, simply declaring: “There are currently no plans for any live dates.”

The news echoes the sentiments of long-term Bowie guitarist Earl Slick, who also told NME back in June: “As for whether I want him to tour, well, I always want to go out, I love to tour, but I’ve got my own thing going at the moment too. If he goes out on the road and I get the call, then all well and good. At the moment, and let’s be clear on this, there is no conspiracy about a tour, there are no surprises, there is just no tour.”
