Alex Turner could ditch the guitar for Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 tour dates

Arctic MonkeysAlex Turner is contemplating leaving his guitar on its stand and may instead go for the full-on frontman role when the band begin a busy period of touring later this month.

Turner has told NME he is currently ‘not really that up for playing guitar’, and instead may pass on the duties to touring member Tom Rowley.

“I’m not really that up for playing guitar at the moment, so I’m trying to get everybody else to do it.,” Turner revealed, before describing Rowley’s role as, ‘Rubbing his belly, patting his head, playing the lead, checking his emails and fucking shredding it on the B-3 organ’.

Arctic Monkeys embark on a long North American tour in Toronto on September 15th, and continue through to October 11th and an appearance at Austin City Limits.

Soon after, they will be back in the UK for an eight-date arena tour, ending with a hometown show at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on November 2nd.
