With a new album on the horizon, Sir Paul McCartney has told a US radio station he has no plans to retire any time soon.

“I get so many people coming up to me on the street saying, ‘Your music changed my life,'” he said while in conversation with WXRT Chicago.

“And I get a lot of cool musicians saying it, like Tom Petty and Dave Grohl.”

“For me, the main thing is I love making music so much. If I retired, I’d still do exactly what I do. So I may as well not retire. Retire from what? I’d do this for nothing.”

First single ‘New‘, taken from the album of the same name which is scheduled for release on October 14th after recording sessions with a variety of musicians and producers such as Mark Ronson and Ethan Johns, was premiered this week.

“Beatles and/or Wings fans will delight in Mark Ronson’s production, with its subtle brass arrangement and handclaps to the familiar bounce of a descending major chord sequence, doubled on piano and harpsichord; second cousin once removed to ‘Fixing A Hole’ or the bastard child of ‘Penny Lane’,” Live4ever’s review reads.
