British singer-songwriter Karen Elson has taken out a restraining order against her former husband Jack White due to a ‘tendency of sending harassing emails and text messages’, according to Nashville’s The City Paper.
The couple separated in 2011, but had appeared to end their relationship on very good terms, saying at the time that they, ‘Remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee’. Elson also provided backing vocals on White’s debut solo record ‘Blunderbuss‘.
However, the paper now cites a dispute over custody of their two children as the source of the conflict and quotes the restraining order as reading:
“Wife fears for her and the children’s safety as a result of this harassment. This pattern of husband’s bullying wife into submission was a contributing factor in the demise of their marriage.”
While White’s attorney could apparently not be reached for comment by The City Paper, Elson’s has told them that both parties had been aiming to come to an agreement privately, but that a custody hearing is now scheduled for August 29th.
