‘Come a Little Closer‘ was handed its premiere on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show yesterday (August 8th), and gives fans a first glimpse of the new album whose recording began in earnest earlier this year.
“Musically, what we’re trying to do is to be super thoughtful but blend that with the playfulness,” frontman Matthew Shultz has explained to Consequence Of Sound. “It became a game to juxtapose and blend those polar opposites. We wanted to see how we can take those odd spectrums and marry them cohesively.”
The album is expected to arrive some time in the autumn, and follows on from the 2011 LP ‘Thank You, Happy Birthday‘. Next month sees Cage The Elephant embark on a North American arena tour in support of Muse, beginning on September 3rd in Charlotte, North Carolina.
