A nine-track demo tape recorded by Radiohead way back in 1986 – when the fledgling band were operating under the name On A Friday – is to be auctioned off in September.

The tape contains six tracks which never subsequently appeared on any official Radiohead releases which are entitled ‘Fragile Friend‘, ‘Girl (In The Purple Dress)‘, ‘Everybody Knows‘, ‘Mountains (On The Move)‘, ‘Lemming Trail‘ and ‘Lock The Door‘.

“It has come directly from an old friend of the band who was at school with them at Abingdon School,” auctioneer Paul Fairweather has told NME. “We have copies of his school yearbook from 85/86 showing him and all four members of the band.”

The tape is estimated to command a price of over £1,000 when it goes on sale at Omega Auctions in Stockport on September 14th. Among the other items up for grabs that day will be handwritten lyrics scribed by Pete Doherty during the recording of The Libertines‘ modern classic debut album ‘Up The Bracket‘.
