Polaris Music Prize unveils final 2013 shortlist

The initial longlist for this year’s Polaris Music Prize – which contained over 40 names – has been whittled down to a final ten ahead of the award’s ceremony which takes place later this year.

The Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize has named the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Metric and Purity Ring on its final rundown, with the winner set to be announced on September 23rd at the Carlu in Toronto.

“A lot of our jury expressed that this was the most difficult Polaris ballot they’ve ever submitted,” Steve Jordan, Polaris Founder and Executive Director, said last month. “The results of this careful and passionate deliberation will make for some truly engaging listening for music lovers.

Feist came out on top last year’s thanks to her fourth record ‘Metals‘.
