James Murphy has described the forthcoming new album from Arcade Fire as ‘really epic’ as the band continue to put the finishes touches to their fourth studio LP.

The LCD Soundsystem man has acted as producer for a portion of the record, and told NME it is shaping up to be a worthy successor to 2010’s ‘The Suburbs‘.

“It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know,” he says. “It’s really fucking epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I’m too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice.”

Describing the recording process, Murphy adds that the final make-up of the album isn’t likely to be settled for a while yet ahead of the recently revealed October 29th release date.

“They’re all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming,” Murphy goes on. “The last time I dared think it was finished I came back to the studio three days later to mix and they’d written two new songs for the album! So it was like, uh, ‘Let’s record these too!’ But it sounds awesome.”
