Blur headlined the first night of this year’s Open’er Festival yesterday (July 4th).

The group have a number of European festival appearances booked for the summer, and performed their first ever gig in Poland. “So it has taken us 23 years to come to Poland, it’s really lovely to be here,” frontman Damon Albarn told the crowd. “When we were 15-years-old, Gdansk was only on TV for the Solidarity movement. I went there today – there’s clearly so much more to Poland and it’s extraordinary.”

A greatest hits set included many Nineties favourites such as ‘Beetlebum‘, ‘Girls & Boys‘ and ‘Parklife‘, while last year’s one-off release, ‘Under The Westway‘, was also included.

Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age and Kings Of Leon will follow Blur as headliners during the next few days.
