Blondie have told fans to ‘not believe everything they read’ after reports last week suggested their singer Debbie Harry could be ready to enter retirement.

A spokesperson for the group revealed that they are, ‘In a hiatus at the moment’, before adding, ‘They will do some tour dates next year’ and ‘nothing is confirmed yet’ following comments made by drummer Clem Burke who was quoted as saying:

“Debbie is 11 years older than the rest of us, so it’s on her mind. We’ve tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but it’s not just up to me. Nothing is finalised yet, but obviously there’s no Blondie without Debbie Harry.”

However, the band have quickly responded with a message posted on their official Facebook page last night (July 29th) which simply states: “No plans to stop working, don’t believe everything you read.”

Blondie are expected to release ‘Ghosts Of Download‘, the tenth studio album of their career, in the autumn of 2013.
