Babyshambles have unveiled the artwork for their new album ‘Sequel To The Prequel‘ (pic).

The sleeve has been designed by Damien Hirst, as bassist Drew McConnell explains: “It happened kind of naturally and in the spirit you’d hope for,” he tells NME. “We asked Damien to suggest someone to put something together, then to our amazement he offered to do it himself. The fact that he used a pic taken by Penny Smith, who shot all those iconic photos of The Clash, just makes it make even more sense.”

Produced by Stephen Street, Babyshambles’ third studio album has a release date of September 2nd, and follows 2007′s ‘Shotter’s Nation‘.

It is preceded by the single ‘Nothing Comes To Nothing‘ on August 26th, which was premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show earlier this month. Pete Doherty and co. will support their new album with a lengthy tour of the UK beginning on September 4th at the Glasgow Barrowlands.
