Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has claimed a track due to appear on the band’s latest LP entitled ‘Fireside‘ is the most ‘Californian’ song he has ever written while insisting the Sheffield group were never destined to become ‘a boring indie band’.

“After our first LP, I don’t think we knew where we were going to go,” Turner has told Q magazine. “We were never going to be a boring indie band. We were always gonna explore.”

“It’s funny you should ask, because our label boss heard the song ‘Fireside’ and told me it’s the most Californian song I’d written,” Turner continued when asked if the impending new album ‘AM‘ will be remembered as their ‘big LA record’.

“And of course, that was the one I’d written in London. What I realise now is that, whatever we try, it always sounds like the Arctic Monkeys.”

‘AM’, the fifth studio album of the Arctic Monkeys’ career, is due for release on September 9th.
