The weather forecast is remaining positive for this weekend as the Glastonbury Festival opens its doors today (June 26th) to welcome the earliest arrivals at Worthy Farm.

Latest suggestions are predicting a largely dry few days for those descending on Somerset as Glastonbury prepares to reawaken from a year’s break. According to reports, the return has been marked with the installation of a giant phoenix atop the main Pyramid stage, designed by Paralympics closing ceremony mogul Joe Rush.

Chief organiser Michael Eavis is quoted as saying the break in 2012 proved to be a blessing for the festival as, in stark contrast to what is expected this time around, the site was deluged with three inches of rain on the weekend which would have witnessed the event last year.

“Three inches of rain that weekend,” Eavis remarks. “We would have had it – we would have gone completely bust. You can’t run this show with three inches of rain. We were so lucky.”

Glastonbury 2013 will be officially launched on Friday (June 28th), with world music exponent Jupiter & Okwess International due up first on the Pyramid Stage.
