The Killers are ready to take another prolonged break from music to allow the four bandmates to concentrate on the different paths their lives are taking them, according to drummer Ronnie Vannucci.
While frontman Brandon Flowers and Vannucci continue to focus squarely on the music, guitarist Dave Keuning has apparently expressed a desire to spend more time with his family once touring duties for their 2012 album ‘Battle Born‘ are completed.
“Dave’s becoming more of a father and wants more time off,” Vannucci tells the Daily Star. “We all totally respect that, because making and touring an album takes two-and-a-half-years of solid work around the world – more if it goes really well.”
“Making the songs is the easy part. It’s all the promotion that goes with it that takes you away from your family that’s tough.”
With Brandon Flowers reiterating his plans to record a second solo album, Vannucci has also said he would remain active during any Killers break, and even holds out hopes of drumming with Queens Of The Stone Age should the opportunity ever present itself.
“Not having kids makes it hard for me to put my feet up,” he continues. “I just want to make music, because it’s a gift and you don’t get to do it for ever – you get fat and ugly soon enough.”
“If we do take a long break, I might make another solo album, or if Queens Of The Stone Age’s drummer ever falls ill, I’ll fight for a spot with those guys.”
The Killers completed their first ever UK stadium gig over the weekend when they played at Wembley in London. A special song recounting the history of the famous stadium – referencing previous performers such as Queen, Oasis and Fleetwood Mac – was given an airing, check out the fan video below.
