Ringo Starr has said he ‘likes to think’ The Beatles would have eventually reformed had John Lennon not been murdered in 1980.
Untold millions are believed to have been offered to Lennon, Starr, and George Harrison and Paul McCartney by big-time promoters in the years following their split, with some believing a reconciliation was close before Lennon’s untimely death a decade after the legendary band disbanded.
And speaking to The Mirror, Ringo believes it ‘could have come together’ despite the various projects which were being pursued by the Fab Four post-1970.
“I’d like to think, yes, we would,” he said. “Paul still goes out with his band, I go out with mine and John would have probably been going out with his. George was not big on touring so I’m not sure about him. But who knows, it could have come together.”
The mid-Nineties saw Ringo, Paul and George reunite in one form for the comprehensive Anthology series, when two ‘new’ Beatles tracks, ‘Like a Bird‘ and ‘Real Love‘, were fully recorded and released.
