MGMT‘s third, self-titled album has been packaged up for release in September.

The duo of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden follow-up 2010’s ‘Congratulations‘ on September 16th (a day later in North America) after recording sessions at Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studios in Buffalo, New York.

Speaking about the album earlier this year, Goldwasser said new material was shaping up to be ‘even weirder’ than its immediate predecessor,  and was taking its inspiration from Aphex Twin and more general house music.

“We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it,” Goldwasser said, while VanWyngarden added their record label has, “No illusion on their part that we’re going to turn into a Top 40 band. That’s kind of comforting.”

‘MGMT’ tracklist:

‘Alien Days
Cool Song No. 2
Mystery Disease
Introspection
Your Life Is a Lie
A Good Sadness
Astro-Mancy
I Love You Too, Death
Plenty Of Girls In the Sea
