Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide feat. Miraculous Mule, Spring Offensive and more

Miraculous Mule and Spring Offensive are the latest highlights of Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide this week.

Miraculous Mule (Michael J Sheehy, Patrick McCarthy and Ian Burns) release their debut digital single ‘Satisfied’ on July 15th, and come complete with a mission statement that’s hard to ignore. “They didn’t go to some Paul McCartney fame school to learn their shit,” a press release boldly declares.” They did their homework in the real world. Hunting down and listenin’ and listenin’ and listenin’ to vinyl, testaments of the 20th centuries finest sound recordings.”

Spring Offensive are offering up their new single ‘Speak’ as a free download, and have also unveiled a live performance video shot by their long-term collaborator Sam King. The track was written in isolation in Wales, and is described as comprising lyrics which ‘teeter on the edge of a confession’.

These, and eight more of our favourite fresh tracks of the week, can be heard below. You can browse through previous editions of the New Tunes Guide at this link.

Spring Offensive have released their new single ‘Speak’ as a free download. ‘Speak’ is accompanied by a live performance video, filmed in the black stone and cavernous setting of one of the UK’s few rackets courts. The location has a nuclear shelter feel to it, rather than a sports court. It was directed by Spring Offensive’s long-term collaborator Sam King.”

The album is released September 16th 2013 and available on vinyl, CD and digitally through all reputable outlets.”

franskild is a collaboration between two Denmark based Swedes, Love Ojensa and Tim Söderström. They are strongly influenced by the blissful sounds and magnificence of the early 80’s house tunes, mixed with early ’90s break beat French wave, tipped with mid-00’s contemporary garage and combined with the highly influential Jacking house. Their upcoming EP will be released August 1st.”

Richard Haswell‘s new album Asteroids is released on July 15th.

Horse Party formed when Shannon (drums) and Seymour (guitar/vocals) got drunk together in a church and sent Ellie (guitar/vocals) abusive messages, ordering her to join a band whose primary goal would be to make or lose a million pounds. Bound together by a shared love of Bjork, Fugazi, Cat Power and terrible films, the threesome began playing together in September 2012. A free download of one song (‘Clarion Call’) in January 2013 led to support offers with fast-rising indie stars Dingus Khan and an invitation to broadcast live from the John Peel Centre for BBC Suffolk Introducing. ‘Back To Mono’ is their first proper single. Horse Party hail from Bury St Edmunds Rock City, UK.”

“The first time Tedo Stone ever set foot in a recording studio, he walked through the doors of Atlanta’s Glow-In-The-Dark Studios with a loose assemblage of backing musicians in tow. The location was well beyond their means, but they were working in the middle of the night in Studio B with an intern engineer at the boards. As mics were set up, they ran through the tune they were about to cut – “War.” Just then, Grammy-winning, multi-platinum record producer Matt Goldman was wrapping a session in Studio A. Something unexpected caught his ear, and he followed the sounds straight down the hall to Stone and his buddies. Before the players realized what was happening, Goldman had sidelined the drummer, jumped behind the kit and taken over production of the session.”
