Josh Homme hints at swift ‘…Like Clockwork’ follow-up for Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens Of The Stone Age leader Josh Homme has implied a follow-up to ‘…Like Clockwork‘ could arrive sooner rather than later despite a six-year gap between the band’s fifth and sixth studio albums.

During an interview with The Skinny, Homme used Iggy Pop‘s celebrated work in Berlin in the late Seventies as an inspiration for his future plans, when the Stooges frontman recorded and released the LPs ‘The Idiot‘ and ‘Lust For Life‘ within a year of each other.

“Part of me thinks it would be great if this was the point-counterpoint that ‘The Idiot’ and ‘Lust For Life’ are, y’know?” he said. “I love those records so much; they came out in a quick period of time. ‘The Idiot’ is very dark and ‘Lust For Life’ is sorta like ‘Tah-daaah!’. I would love to answer this album with a ‘Tah-dah!’ at some point.”

‘…Like Clockwork’ is currently locked in what looks to be a losing battle for tomorrow’s UK number one album; despite leading the race earlier in the week, figures released by the Official Chart Company yesterday suggested the record is now trailing Disclosure by around 2,000 copies.
