Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to the late actor James Gandolfini yesterday evening by performing his classic 1975 album ‘Born To Run‘ in full during a stop off in Coventry as part of an ongoing UK stadium tour.

Gandolfini, a fellow New Jersey native of Springsteen’s and a co-star of The Sopranos with E Street band member Steven Van Zandt, passed away suddenly on June 19th while on holiday in Italy after reportedly suffering a heart attack.

And, according to Hidden Track, 12 songs into his set Springsteen told the crowd ‘Born To Run’ was about to be aired in its entirety while dedicating the performance to Gandolfini.

Steven Van Zandt – who played the character Silvio Dante in The Sopranos along side Gandolfini’s iconic portrayal of Tony Soprano – led the many tributes being paid to the actor after the sad news was announced yesterday, writing on Twitter:

“I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time.”
