BBC bosses have reached a deal to broadcast The Rolling Stones‘ headline performance at Glastonbury next week, however those not able to attend will still miss more than half of the band’s set.

Mick Jagger had initially only wanted four Stones songs to be shown on the BBC, but now Michael Eavis has revealed an agreement has been signed off which is to allow around an hour of the two-hour-fifteen-minute performance to be a part of the corporation’s coverage.

“It’s taken a long time to get them to come and play,” Eavis told BBC News. “Everyone wants to see the Stones, basically. I think Mick Jagger wanted to play to the people here, rather than a TV show. They’re going to be playing for about an hour for the TV.”

Eavis also admitted to being slightly apprehensive at the level of interest in The Rolling Stones’ first ever appearance at Worthy Farm, and consequently has extended the area around the event’s main Pyramid Stage in anticipation of unprecedented numbers gathering on the Friday evening.

“There might be a problem with the size of the crowd so it’s slightly worrying for me, in a way,” he added.
