Video: Beck gives live debut to ‘Song Reader’ tracks

Beck finally brought his 2012 ‘Song Reader‘ album to life last weekend during a gig in California.

Performing at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, Beck aired the tracks ‘Sorry‘ and ‘Heaven’s Ladder‘ which, like the rest of their parent album, had until then only existed in sheet music form.

Footage of the songs has now been uploaded to YouTube, and can be viewed below.

A grander public display of the album is due to take place in London on July 4th when a host of stars have agreed to join Beck at the city’s Barbican venue for an evening of music and art.

The twenty-track LP is set to be performed live by the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand, Beth Orton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joan As Police Woman, Conor O’Brien, The Staves, Guillemots and Michael Kiwanuka, with still more guests yet to be confirmed.

In addition, artwork exhibitions and amateur interpretations of the songs are also being showcased in the build-up to the gig.
