Maccabees frontman Orlando Weeks has revealed the group began work on a new album towards the end of last year, and band-mate Felix White believes it is shaping up to be the best of their career to date.

The Maccabees are the latest to give an album update to NME this week, and said the excitement felt about recording new material despite the buzz surrounding last year’s ‘Given To The Wild‘ is a positive sign.

“We went straight back into our studio in Elephant & Castle at the end of last year,” Weeks said. “We spent time doing it up too – I was painting the kitchen.  We had such a busy time after ‘Given To The Wild’ and to feel excited enough to get on with a new album straight away must mean something.”

“It’s going to be sort of similar to ‘Given to the Wild’, but it’s also going to be more direct and exciting,” Felix White concludes. “I think it’s going to be our best record.”
